Bladepad: The Comprehensive Bluetooth Joystick For iPhone

Until Apple's patent for a remote for iOS devices becomes a reality, we have the option of using joysticks from other manufacturers that use SDKs to provide physical controls in some games and emulators for iOS.

The last to appear is Bladepad, a brainchild project of Kickstarter looking for funding to become a reality. The accessory consists of two parts: a protective covering that is inserted into the iPhone and the remote with a slide mechanism.
The touch screen is not enough to play on your iPhone? The Bladepad Bluetooth is a new controller that is designed to work with the iPhone 4S. By sliding the phone into the case and connecting it to the handle, you can use both joysticks and fifteen additional buttons. The controller has two analog sticks, a spider and eight buttons to wear during the game, also visible buttons can be lit to see if we play well in dark environments.
With internal battery this accessory promises to offer about four hours of continuous play. When it runs out, we can load the iPhone Bladepad and thanks to both dual cables that provides both connections (micro-USB 3.0-pin dock).
Bladepad developers also assure that they have already agreed with several leading game studios to support the controller in the future iOS-games, so with the titles "under it" should not be a problem.
The Bladepad uses a specific cover that protects the iPhone. When not in use, the handle folds over the phone as to form a compact block, though rather thick. The cover can however become detached from the handle to travel lighter.
The controller contains a battery that powers the chip Bluetooth and also provides a full backlight for all keys. The Bladepad uses the standard Bluetooth 4.0 which works with very little energy, but reserve this accessory to the iPhone 4S and the new iPad. A version for the iPhone 5 will be designed, however, as soon as it is available. Nevertheless, autonomy is limited: the manufacturer talks about four hours of play.
To launch its production, Bladepad needs funding. If you are interested in this controller, you can pre-order on the kickstarter.
