Bradford SEO Company: Choosing the Right One

If you've been DIY-ing it on your own with SEO for your company or your business, you've probably got to a point where you find the sheer volume and size of information that's out there quite intimidating and overwhelming. Most of your time goes in figuring out why your company/business doesn't come up in the first page when you search on-line, and if you're spending an inordinate amount of effort trying to optimize your brand name for SEO, perhaps you need to employ a specialist, or an SEO company to do all the leg-work for you.
Today you're spoiled for choice. With thousands of large and small companies claiming to be SEO experts, it's not easy to separate the wheat from the chaff. You need to have a strategy when looking for the best and a checklist that will help you along the way.

Look for them! Do an on-line search for the company; see where it comes up when you do a search, reviews by users and comments on social networking sites, check in various forums that you belong to and look for the company or its promoters in blogs. Check their own PR values and take it as evidence of their effectiveness. Evaluate the information before you believe all of it. Go with recommendations by friends, colleagues, family members or your on-line contacts both business and personal.

What do they promise? A good SEO company should be able to guarantee a high ranking, but if they're promising to make you Number One, you need to be wary before you fall for something so unlikely. If they're advising obscure, lengthy keywords to guarantee success, this is something you could have done yourself! For a search engine like Google, there are no paid submissions or priority submissions. Rankings or keywords are never sold to the highest bidder. Watch out for claims of free links, contests or putting up your site on huge numbers of search engines. This is no guarantee of success. Are they ranking for pages as well as keywords?

Piggybacking: Some SEO companies fraudulently push their other clients' links by piggybacking them on yours. They also put in fake domains that direct users to other sites which they themselves own or are owned by competitors. So someone else benefits from the fees you pay. Putting in individual "portal" pages is another suspect practice that fraudulent SEO companies indulge in.

Reputable links: Ensure that your SEO company collects links only from reputable sites and not "link farms." If they're cagey about where they collect links from, or they're making changes to your site that you're not comfortable with, you need to take steps to correct such behavior.

Apart from these tips, go with your instincts and gut-feel about an SEO company and the people who work for them. There are plenty of scamsters out there!
