When it comes to designing new blogs and working on that all-important first impression that you have to set on your visitors there are several things that you must consider to be able to impress your readers and create and aesthetically pleasing blog.
We'll start at the top and work out way down taking into account as many different elements as we can when comes to blog design. Firstly you want a logo that's going to stand out and that you're going to be proud of, something easy to read and a design that will be recognized easily. Remember the logo isn't just going to appear on your site it's going to appear all over the Internet as well like on Twitter, Facebook and anywhere else you choose to use to promote your blog.
Next you want to think about colors and fonts that you going to be using on your site. It's really important that they all work in harmony with each other. Pick colors that work and also make sure they work with the topic you are blogging about. A hot pink will not work for a blog about gardening. Your fonts must also follow the follow the same pattern, do they work together if you are using more than one font and also do they go with the topic you write about?
Working our way down you want to be choosing your different fonts and font sizes that will work well with your headings and also your subheadings. You also want to use the same fonts in your sidebar as well on widget headers and also widget content. Make sure you have full continuity throughout your blog with colors and fonts.
The sidebar design is really important, keep it clean and simple and make sure you only include important things in there, don't fill it with adverts and affiliate links, you want to be about the content and not just about the money. Put in subscriber forms, popular posts, your flagship content and also just a couple of your recommended products, don't over do it though.
One of the important elements of blog design is the way you space out your articles. Use lots of paragraphs, a good font size and an easy to read font. Add regular breaks to your writing and where possible use images and other visuals.
Finally we have our footer. It's not a must, a lot of blogs don't have footers but there are also lots that do and the choice is you if you want one. The only advice I have is keep it simple and relevant. You don't have to clutter it up, you can use it for some extra info like about the blog, subscriber information and any other useful stuff that you think your audience would like at hand.
The important thing to remember when designing a blog is to think of your end user, are they going to be happy using your blog, are they going to find it easy to navigate round and will they be able to find your best content easily? When you decide you are ready to start a blog look for some good tutorilas by using google searching for blogging tutorials.
